Sony Ericsson Entertainment Unlimited Phones Aino and Satio get firmware upgrades making them less buggy and more effiicient and user-friendly. As we know, the two phones were going headlong down all thanks to Aino’s buggy touchscreen and Satio’s irredeemable software bugs.

Sony Ericsson, in a bid to save the phones from swooshing down the alleys, has gone a step further and upgraded the firmwares. The new firmware for Aino™, version – R7AA071 is already available for updating in SEUS.

Satio too, gets an update.

Named Kurara, the Satio sequel will probably be a device based on the Symbian S60 platform.

WMExperts poated a really cool video on Xperia X2 and its various functionalities-

The successor to the Xperia X1,the X2 will run Windows Mobile 6.5, bringing new features such as Flash support in Internet Explorer Mobile and Microsoft’s app store, and the Windows Marketplace for Mobile. Sony Ericsson has also added something called the SlideView feature that notifies users to missed calls or new messages and provides quick access to them.

The Xperia panel interface is still there with 14 panels preloaded on the smartphone and 16 others available for download, including those for Skype, CNN, and Google. You also get a 3.2-inch WVGA touch screen, a full QWERTY keyboard, an 8.1-megapixel camera, and TV out capabilities.

Sony has announced a new alarm clock that has a port to connect your Sony Ericsson phone. This setup allows you to charge your phone and stream music through the radio. Expect it sometime in the fall/autumn season for an undisclosed price.

Motion sensors are so three months ago. Sony has filed a patent for an emotion sensor to be used to detect a gamers feelings during a game such as joy, anger or sadness.

Using clever tech the application uses metadata to detect players laughter and other forms of emotional expression during a game via microphone and camera.

According to the patent it will be used to detect a players “laugh”, “frown”, “yawn”, “applaud” or boo’s and other such outward emotions projected by gamers bodies.

Smartphone penetration is forecast to make up 70% of the European market by 2012, despite consumers reining in spend during the recession.

The latest report by Gartner, the technology research company, says demand for brands such as the Apple iPhone and RIM’s BlackBerry will continue to rise over the next few years.

Carolina Milanesi, Gartner research director says touchscreen and qwerty keyboard devices remained a major driver for replacement sales.

Banner Ad “Given the higher margins, smartphones offer the biggest opportunity for manufacturers. It is the fastest-growing market segment and the most resistant to declining ASPs [average selling price],” she says.

Gartner has revealed that worldwide mobile phone sales totalled 286.1 million units in the second quarter, a 6.1% fall from the second quarter of last year.

In contrast, smartphone sales surpassed 40 million units, which was a 27% rise from the same period last year, representing the fastest-growing segment of the mobile-devices market.
