Sony Ericsson cites the large number of handsets in its catalogue so far, most of which have not been properly promoted and advertised, as one of the main reasons of its failure. Talking to TechRadar, Dave Hilton, marketing director for Sony Ericsson UK and Ireland, said that concentrating on setting up a smaller portfolio while maintaining the innovation will be the next major move towards a better figure in the finance stats.
The proprietor believes that the showcased Satio, Yari and Aino will make repair the holes inside the decks of the sinking Titanic:
“That means fewer products, which in turn helps lower costs but still means we can offer new and innovative propositions to help maintain our strong market share.”
And for all those who are expecting the release of PSP Phone, here’s bad news. Its so far, not in the recent agenda of Sony Ericsson!!
“We’ve brought a better gaming experience to mobiles, and [I don't think] we need the PlayStation brand for that. It’s something we’re looking to step away from today [using sub-brands] as when you’re looking at the higher end of the market consumers want it all: good gaming, video, music etc. With a sub brand, you’re kind of putting a limit [on the phone].”

System software update 2.70 for the PS3 is now available. The system software update can be downloaded by selecting System Update icon under the Setting column on XMB (Xross Media Bar) – and is completely free.
Key features include -
Text chat: The update makes it easy to chat: just set up a chat room, select anyone from your Friends list and invite them in – they’ll see an icon in the corner of their screen and know they’re wanted in your chat room. Up to 16 people can join the same room to chat using a controller, a connected keyboard or a Wireless Keypad. You can start a chat even while you’re halfway through a game.
Dynamic Normaliser for music: This reduces the difference in volume levels between tracks and makes for a smooth listening experience all the way.
Better control of the Internet: Find a game’s icon in your menu and select ‘Internet Search’. You’ll be taken online to search for information about it. The 2.70 update also allows you to cut and paste text from your Internet Browser as well as send message attachments up to 3MB in size.
Language fixes: If you’re Polish, Greek, Czech, Slovak, and Turkish, you’ll particularly like the 2.70 update: it makes the necessary additions to your Internet Browser that enables you to read the full range of letters and characters from your national alphabet.

Xbox Or PSP?
Hmmm. That’s a dilemma hard core gamers face when choosing between the two giants of the gaming world
Now, what if I tell you that you get an Xbox feature in your Sony Ericsson phone or let us say, I give you the opportunity to spend as little as possible on a phone of suitable platform and present to you a phone that booms and bangs your life with games based on real 3D, read again, REAL 3D graphical interface? Eh? Interesting?
Yea, that’s exactly what I felt when I got this little piece of news that Remi Pedersen, the Graphics Product Manager at ARM, has promised the possibility of Xbox 360 graphical Interface, implemented, yea you heard right, implemented, in phones supporting the celestial higher-end Mali-200 and Mali-400 processors!

Now, Mr. Remi completely refused to divulge information on such chip prices or ratings, Mali mobile GPUs are already showing up in some phones. The 65nm Mali-55 is a first generation core in LG Electronics’ Renoir phone. Partnered with an Arm CPU, that phone runs Flash, but unfortunately has no shader capabilities. But phew, it still has some advantage for being a tiny OpenGL ES GPU – good for 3D gaming. Hey, did you know that Apple iPhone supports OpenGL ES 1.1 as well?

Dorman: “We’re as strong as we’ve ever been”
Sony Ericsson has spoken to TechRadar and strongly downplayed recent rumours the two companies are about to split.
Recent stories have suggested that a refusal to allow Sony Ericsson to use the PSP brand by parent company Sony have led to tensions within the camp, but TechRadar spoke to Richard Dorman, Sony Ericsson senior marketing manager, who refuted the claims:
“The relationship between Sony and Ericsson is a strong as it ever has been, and neither plan to walk away.”
