Friendly Fires will play a completely unique gig at a secret London venue on June 15th. Titled Sony Ericsson Pitch Black the gig will take place in complete darkness with the band treating an effectively blind audience of 200 to a music experience like no other. The audience will be forced to ‘feel’ the music, with the Pitch Black gig heightening their senses to the extreme.

Friendly Fires are one of the most exciting new bands in the country and the first unsigned band to appear on Channel 4′s Transmission show. Last year, a super limited seven-inch, Paris, was judged to be the single of the week in both the NME and The Guardian. With Radio 1 DJs Zane Lowe, Colin Murray and Rob Da Bank all huge fans, the Friendly Fires are now signed to XL and count Radiohead, The White Stripes and Adele as their label mates.

Their album Cross the Line went Silver in the UK (60,000 sales and counting ) and with a string of sold-out UK tours to their name, they were nominated for a Best Breakthrough Award at the South Bank Awards and for ‘Best Dancefloor Filler’ at the NME Awards. They were also second on the bill on the annual NME Awards Tour and most recently they toured with Crustal Castles and White Lies. The band have just announced their biggest ever headlining tour of the UK, including two sold-out shows at the Forum in London. They will also be playing a host of UK festivals this summer including Glastonbury, Reading/Leeds, T In The Park and Creamfields and will also support Blur at their Hyde Park show on Thursday 2nd July.

For this particular project Friendly Fires are up to the challenge and are promising a set that will feature all the classics with a couple of tweaks to ensure they have the desired effect when playing in Pitch Black.
