The Sony Ericsson Xperia X2 has only just shot out of the blocks. But it seems this touchscreen titan could be the last Windows Mobile blower Son Ericsson rocks, with reports suggesting the mobile maker is getting ready to cut the cord with Microsoft. Despite a sleek new design, Windows Mobile is still taking a critical battering from Android and iPhone OS. So Sony Ericsson is preparing to end its stormy relationship with Microsoft according to Mobile–Review’s Eidar Murtazin.

Murtazin, a man known for his impeccable mobile connections, says the Xperia X2 will be the last Sony Ericsson phone to pack Windows Mobile. In the future, he says, the phone giant will work on Android and S60 blowers instead.

Apparently, its all down to how many WinMo cells SE can flog. Murtazin says insiders have told him the, “…sales forecast is bad,” for the Microsoft mobiles. With the Xperia Rachael and Satio just around the corner, such a move would not be a surprise.
