The Sony Ericsson Xperia X2  will be back with the Windows Mobile (6.5?) System.

These messages come from the CEO of Skyhook, Ted Morgan, who in an interview with GigaOM on Location Based Services on the iPhone, as reported in passing. “Morgan admits that the company has lost a couple of deals because of free offerings. For instance, the X2 edition of Sony Xperia phone (Windows Mobile-based) uses geolocation data from Google.” More literally was not said about this unit.Of course, it’s no big secret that SE would be looking to follow on the XPeria X1 at some point, but details have been virtually nonexistent; here, Skyhook’s Ted Morgan mentions that his company lost out on a contract to power the WinMobile-based X2′s location-based platform to Google because… well, Google’s free.

SONY ERICSSON X2 AND X5 UPDATES

Via Twitter, a sony ericsson top boss has let slip the fact that the company is expecting to release not only the new Xperia X2 handset in the coming months, but the X5 following shortly after.

The X5 lives!

While rumours are just that, the sheer weight of them from different sources hints at something very real happening in the near future.

However, after the mixed success of the original Xperia, the pressure is on the ailing Sony Ericsson! As for us, we surely expect lot more from SONY ERICSSON.
