sony-ericsson-ainoMajor software problems have apparently hit the latest gaming phone, a PSP substitute from Sony Ericsson, Aino. A large number of UK customers have reported problems regarding touchscreen interface of the model. SE has admitted “issues” regarding the phone. This comes just few days after its another much hyped high-end handset Satio was pulled off from the markets after high returns at Carphone Warehouse and Phones 4u saw both retailers halt Satio sales.

“Aino has sold in limited numbers in the UK, so this issue affects only a very small number of customers,” says a Sony Ericsson representative.

Aino and Satio are Sony Ericsson’s key products for the final quarter,” said analyst Geoff Blaber from British consultancy CCS Insight.

“These problems couldn’t come at a worse time — just as the market approaches the highest volume weeks of the year. They have days not weeks to fix these issues,” Blaber added.

Sony Ericsson has had a seriously bad financial year. And the failure of its two high-end phones seems to be writing a disaster off in the fate of the once popular mobile proprietors. Its yet to be seen whether the two successors of Xperia are able to pull the company out of its misery.
