Mobile Tube. Sony Ericsson Germany is running a YouTube-based campaign for its W995 handset using interactive video. The clip features four navigation buttons. The ‘Video Quiz’ tab links the user to a contest featuring Jan Delay where players can win a W995. The ‘PlayNow Arena’ button delivers a showcase of all the content available for the phone. The ‘Top Features’ channel delivers… well, you kinda know already. While those clicking on ‘YouTube Function’ get to see how they can put the viral video site in their pockets: Nice use of i-video functions – expect more campaigns like this on YouTube, though perhaps more exciting.

A while ago SE was believe to be working on many different colors of the classic SE logo. Well this month we have seen two videos that have the different colors. In the XPERIA X2 Commericial Video we see the blue logo and in the Satio Open GL video we see the red logo. These look really good and appear to be part of the campaign make.believe that SE is doing now.

Motion sensors are so three months ago. Sony has filed a patent for an emotion sensor to be used to detect a gamers feelings during a game such as joy, anger or sadness.
Using clever tech the application uses metadata to detect players laughter and other forms of emotional expression during a game via microphone and camera.
According to the patent it will be used to detect a players “laugh”, “frown”, “yawn”, “applaud” or boo’s and other such outward emotions projected by gamers bodies.

Smartphone penetration is forecast to make up 70% of the European market by 2012, despite consumers reining in spend during the recession.
The latest report by Gartner, the technology research company, says demand for brands such as the Apple iPhone and RIM’s BlackBerry will continue to rise over the next few years.
Carolina Milanesi, Gartner research director says touchscreen and qwerty keyboard devices remained a major driver for replacement sales.
Banner Ad “Given the higher margins, smartphones offer the biggest opportunity for manufacturers. It is the fastest-growing market segment and the most resistant to declining ASPs [average selling price],” she says.
Gartner has revealed that worldwide mobile phone sales totalled 286.1 million units in the second quarter, a 6.1% fall from the second quarter of last year.
In contrast, smartphone sales surpassed 40 million units, which was a 27% rise from the same period last year, representing the fastest-growing segment of the mobile-devices market.

Sony Ericsson, the troubled mobile phone manufacturer, has appointed a new president and reshuffled its board in a bid to revive its flagging fortunes.
Bert Nordberg, the head of Silicon Valley at Ericsson, the wireless equipment maker, will take up the role of co-president of the Swedish-Japanese telecoms group in September, midway through a major turnaround programme.
Hideki “Dick” Komiyama, Sony Ericsson’s president would retire at the end of the year, the company said.
Sir Howard Stringer, the Sony president responsible for a sweeping cost-cutting exercise at the loss-making Japanese company, has been appointed chairman of the board, taking over the role from Carl-Henric Svanberg, the president and chief executive of Ericsson, on October 15.
